Fans fear that Gwen Stefani is “becoming a right wing grifter.” One social media post in particular garnered a lot of backlash and led to fans feeling “heartbroken” that the “Hollaback Girl” singer might be a “MAGA woman” now.
On March 6, Gwen took to X to praise Jonathan Roumie for his interview with Tucker Carlson.
During his conversation with Tucker Carlson, Jonathan spoke about ‘the power of prayer and fasting.’

Jonathan Roumie portrays Jesus in The Chosen. During the interview, Jonathan also promoted the Hallow prayer app.
Gwen, who is Catholic, has also promoted the Hallow app before. On March 6, Gwen shared Jonathan’s X post about his Tucker Carlson interview.
“Wow @JonathanRoumie u r a powerful inspirational human what an what an enlightening intelligent beautiful interview thank you for being u gx,” Gwen wrote on X.
Fans saw this as evidence that ‘Gwen is in her Trump era.’

The post was met with a lot of criticism, especially because Gwen was promoting a Tucker Carlson interview.
“Biggest disappointment-Gwen promoting Tucker Carlson ?” one fan wrote in response to Gwen’s post.
Another fan urged her to delete it. “do not amplify tucker carlson’s extremely dangerous platform,” they warned.
Some fans tried to give Gwen the benefit of the doubt. “I know you’re a good person,” one fan wrote.
“I’m trying to keep giving you the benefit of the doubt but you’re making it more difficult. Please think about what you’re posting. Please tell us you don’t know who Tucker Carlson is.”
Another fan agreed that Gwen is making things more difficult for longtime fans. “Gwen as a long time fan you’re making it harder and harder to keep supporting you please don’t platform Tucker Carlson the Russian propagandist,” they wrote.
Others said Gwen has become ‘uncool.’
“Can’t get over how uncool gwen stefani has become,” one person wrote on X. Some people were surprised that Gwen would share a Tucker Carlson interview, with one person saying that Gwen’s X post was “heartbreaking.”
“I literally can’t comprehend that the same gwen stefani who sang about having sex in the backseat of a car is now supporting conservative right-wing conspiracy theorists who are against her predominantly lgbtq+ fan base,” another fan wrote on X.
Some people blamed Gwen’s husband, Blake Shelton.
According to one fan, Gwen will always be “a pop queen,” but she also seems to be someone who is “drawn to anything her man is.”
The same fan went on to say that Gwen might be “MAGA leaning” now because of her husband. In 2016, some sources reported that Blake planned on voting for Donald Trump, but he told Billboard that he was hoping for “another option.”
On social media, he later wrote that he had not endorsed anyone for president and was not going to do so.
Still, many fans pointed to Blake when attempting to explain Gwen’s alleged shift in political beliefs.
“Gwen Stefani seems like one of those girls who just completely absorbs and becomes whatever man she’s with,” one fan wrote on X.
“Eventually they’ll divorce and she’ll have a ballad about how she lost who she was for him.”
Gwen previously faced backlash when partnering with Hallow.
Gwen partnered with the app for its holiday campaign in 2024. Some fans were surprised.
“These Hallow app ads is how I’m now finding out Gwen Stefani is a Christian!?” one fan wrote on X.
However, other fans pointed out that Gwen’s faith has never been a secret.
“People really out here upset that Gwen Stefani is promoting that Hallow app like she hasn’t been a practicing Catholic her entire life,” another person posted.
“Like c’mon now. She’s never hidden that about herself.”
When one fan saw Gwen’s recent Tucker interview re-post, they weren’t particularly surprised. “Knew she was a right wing grifter when she started promoting a bible app,” the person wrote.
Others jumped to Gwen’s defense.

Some people thought Gwen simply reacted to the interview because she’s Catholic — not because she supports Tucker.
“She wasn’t highlighting anyone except J Roumie,” one person wrote. “Did you even watch.
He’s a Catholic and Gwen is a Catholic and it’s the beginning of Lent. Why can’t everyone just be themselves without all the presumption and judgement??”
In 2021, Gwen declined to speak about her political beliefs.
In explaining why she hasn’t taken to social media to endorse any candidates or to share her political beliefs, Gwen told Paper Magazine that she’s “not a political science major.”
Given that everyone knows she’s not an expert on politics, she wondered why people expected her to talk about political issues.
She also added that she felt like her political beliefs should be “pretty obvious” to her fans.
“The first song I ever wrote was a song called ‘Different People,’ which was on the Obama playlist, you know, a song about everyone being different and being the same and loving each other,” she said.
